A Huge Thank You to Our Nurses and Nursing Teams

Amazing, invaluable, kind, hard-working, compassionate. These are just a few of the words mentioned while celebrating our incredible nurses and nursing care teams across Larchwood Care homes on International Nurses’ Day.

We couldn’t agree more!

The 12th of May is the birthdate of Florence Nightingale, the founder of modern nursing and has become a day to reflect on the difference nurses make to the lives of many.

While our nursing care homes have our own nurses, our residential and dementia homes work closely with community nursing teams, GP surgeries and local NHS providers. Nurses’ Day 2023 was the perfect opportunity to thank our own nursing teams as well as those who support us in delivering excellent person-centred care to our residents.

This year, our homes went to great lengths to say thank you with impressive bakes, breakfast rolls, pamper packs and beautiful bouquets.

Appleby

The ‘Appleby Angels’ at Appleby in North Shields were treated to an impressive selection of home-baked cakes and doughnuts to go with their morning coffee. The home paid tribute to its own nurses and nursing team as well as those who support the home.

Avonbridge

Avonbridge in Hamilton said a huge thank you to their amazing nursing team with beautifully wrapped gifts. These were waiting for staff as they finished the night shift or as they arrived at the home for the day.

Cams Ridge

Later in the day, a feast awaited our Cams Ridge family in Fareham. The team at the home enjoyed a moment to indulge with a stack of Domino’s pizzas and messages of thanks.

Cavell House

At Cavell House in Shoreham-by-Sea, a heartfelt thanks came in the form of pamper gifts and chocolate. The thoughtful gifts were handed out to encourage the home’s nurses and nursing care team to enjoy some well-deserved ‘me time’ over the weekend.

Cranford

Breakfast rolls were served up as a thank you to staff as they finished the night shift at Cranford in Aberdeen. While the members of the day team were treated to delicious bacon baps to kick off their International Nurses’ Day.

Eastwood Court

In typical Eastwood Court style, there was a party atmosphere for the home’s Nurses’ Day celebration in Giffnock. The home’s pub, ‘The Staying Inn’, opened its doors to say thank you to staff with an impressive afternoon tea.
