At Eastwood Court Care Home, we take great pride in helping make residents’ dreams come true wherever possible.
A raffle prize win was just the ticket for Gordon Miller as the prize was a tour of Glasgow Ranger’s football club.
He couldn’t have won anything better as he’s been a massive fan since childhood.
Gordon, who is a 72-year-old grandad, also made Ken Mathieson’s day by choosing this close friend, a fellow resident at the Glasgow care home, and Rangers’ fan to accompany him on his special day.
Gordon, a former whiskey factory warehouseman, was blown away by his VIP visit to his favourite club.
He said: “It was a fantastic day out. I love going to Ibrox and getting a behind the scenes tour at my favourite football club was something I shall treasure forever.”
Our activity co-ordinators Lesley Brown and Catherine McAllister got in touch with the club about the raffle to raise money for the residents. And they were delighted when the club donated stadium tour tickets.
Michelle Beltran, the manager of our care home, which also provides respite, palliative and convalescent care as well as nursing care, said: “Lesley and Catherine do a great job coming up with activities and ideas that tie in with our residents’ interests and hobbies.
“Several of our residents are sports fans and it was lovely to see a prize that resonated so much with Gordon and his pal Ken. They both had a grand day out thanks to the generosity of Glasgow Rangers.”
